Have you been curious about planting a food forest or incorporating perennial plants to grow food in ways that are resilient and rooted in community care? Join us for a hands-on Food Forest Design and Community Conversation focused on the foundations of agroforestry and food forests as Indigenous agroecological practices. This community food forestry design charrette is for community members, gardeners, farmers, land stewards, educators, and anyone interested in agroforestry, agroecology, food sovereignty, and regenerative land management.

Together we will explore the basics of food forest design, perennial plant layers, and species selection, including different varieties and sourcing options suited to our region. Facilitators will guide participants through an interactive learning and design process that centers educational needs, collective governance, and stewardship of the land. Through site walks, group discussion, hands-on planting, and collaborative design activities, you’ll help shape our collective vision for a community food forest. Whether you are new to agroforestry practices or a long time agroforestry practitioner, this charrette invites you to bring your questions, experiences, and ideas to this shared process.
